Hey guys! Sorry about not posting on Wednesday, but I am back on Friday with a post all about the furbabies! Some of you may know that the term furbabies basically means your pets. However, if you are like me and my family, then they aren’t pets, they are babies. Furbabies. For example, I celebrated Mothers Day this year because I have a furbaby, Nala. As stupid as it may sound, she is a piece of my heart and anything happens to her I get extremely worried.
Now on to the meat and potatoes! We’re going to go oldest to youngest!
So starting us out as the old man of the group, we have Punkin. Punkin is a full-blooded Shin Tzu. He is 19 years old (in human years, which means he is 133 in dog years), and will be turning 20 years old come November 24th. He was brought into our family 6 years ago! We got him from my cousins aunt who had another dog, and it was just getting too hard for her to walk them both up and down the stairs. He is blind in his right eye, and is about as snappy as any other old man! When it storms he shakes like a leaf, and he has the occasional bad dream just like every human does!
Then after him comes Princess! Her full name is Princess Socks Middleton (my sister was two when we got her lol). She is a black and white domestic cat, whose feet are white (hence the socks). Her birthday is May 12th, and we have had her since she was 8 weeks old! She has been with us through thick, and thin. Literally. She will go on hunger strike, where she wont eat anything we give her for like a month or two, and then she will start eating everything she sees. Doctors say shes fine, she’s just picky I guess! Also she will only eat one type of food; Purina Kitten Chow. She won’t even eat the next step up! She’s fits her name to a tee that is for dang sure!
Following Princess is our other domestic cat, Penelope! She is all black, and loves attention! She is 11 years old, and will climb anything (including trying to climb the walls)! She loves being in the bathroom with you when you are showering, but she won’t get in the shower with you. She loves climbing on top of the toilet, and has even fallen in sometimes!
After Penelope comes Neon! Neon is a “toady” (not sure if I am spelling that correctly, but oh well) and has the attitude of a teenage girl. One minute she will let you pet her, and then she will turn right around and bite you. She is 10 years old, and is the biggest cat I have ever met. We have nicknamed her Buddha, because of her size! She has always been this size, even from when she was a kitten.
After Neon comes her big brother, Zeus. Now hearing me say big you may be thinking, “What do you mean big, you are going in order of oldest to youngest?” By big I mean, Zeus is a Blue Merrill Great Dane. He is 8 years old, and his birthday is three days after mine, April 19th. He may be 8 years old, but he certainly does not look that old (8 years old is old for a Great Dane, most Danes only live to be 6-8 years old). Even though he is huge, he is the biggest baby you have ever met! Not only that, but he is an actual person. No joke! He sits like a person, he won’t lay on the floor, he always has to have a seat on the couch or love seat, and he can’t sleep alone. His bark is ten times worse than his bite, which combined with his size makes him the perfect guard dog!
After Zeus, there is a big age gap because the next is Toby who turned 2 years old this April. April 22nd to be exact! Toby is a Min Pin/Dauschand/Chihuahua mix. Let me tell you, he is something. We have had him since he was 8 weeks old, and he is the cutest thing ever! However, he doesn’t like to listen… The amount of times he has gotten out, and we have had to chase him around the neighborhood is unreal. In fact, one time he got out we were all out looking for him, and my sister ended up slipping in a patch of mud, falling, and broke her leg. Yea, she broke her leg looking for him. It was intense.
After Toby, is my princess! Nala is the second best thing that has ever happened to me (the first being Kyle). She was found by a old friend of mine on the streets with no chip, no collar, nothing. So after a week or so, she posted on Facebook that if no one claimed this cat by the end of the day, she was going to have to take her to the shelter. Now after volunteering at the shelter for many years, I know what happens to the cats there. Rarely do they get adopted out, and she was a gorgeous cat! So after some convienceing with my parents, I met up with my friend to bring Nala home. After weeks of her hiding out under the bed, and being extremely skittish, she finally warmed up to us and has been the light of our lives ever since. We aren’t really sure how old she is, but we know she is younger than 3 years old, and probably older than 1. She is a beautiful Tabby cat, and loves to explore things (including sneaking outside when no one is looking in the middle of the night, and then showing back up around 7 o’clock in the morning.
Now, we no longer have her, but I still wanted to include her! Zephyr was only with my family for a short while, but she had been with my “aunt” for a long time. So it was painful to see her go, but we all agreed it was for the best. Zephyr was a 8 year old French Lop. Now for those of you who don’t know what a French Lop is, have no fear neither did I until my “aunt” moved in with her. A French Lop is a type of rabbit. Now Zephyr was a cage free, litter box trained rabbit. This means she literally just hops around the house, and uses a litter box like a cat. We miss her dearly, but know that she is much happier now!
That is all of our furbabies, what about you? Do you have furbabies? If so what are they? Cat? Dog? Rabbit? Bird? Reptile? Rodent? Leave a comment down below telling me all about them!
